I may be over thinking this portrait but to me there is so much symbolism:

-Katniss not sitting in the chair, because she doesn’t abide by the Capitols rules

-She is the only one so far looking directly at us, to show that she isn’t intimidated by the Capitol, but the others were.

-She’s holding the white rose down to show her feelings of superiority over it, with President Snow being the rose.

-Unlike the others, Katniss has a simple and plain chair. It’s because Katniss was a simple girl from The Seam who became the symbol of the rebellion.

What a thoughtful analysis. I like it, and the picture :)

The Hunger Games Parallels: Seneca / Katniss

After doing this, I realized the two characters are, in fact, very similar. Both Seneca and Katniss caused the greatest Rebellion that Panem has ever seen. They both fought for something, and sparked something totally different. I think his character serves a very important role and should not be overlooked. They also serve as opposites, Seneca’s door does not open, he has no hope. Both are being walked to their death, Katniss escapes. Katniss is life, Seneca is death.

Clearly the arena’s just a giant version of The Sims for the Gamemakers…

“Your favorite color… it’s green?” “That’s right.” Then I think of something to add. “And your’s is orange.”“Orange?” He seems unconvinced.”Not bright orange. But soft. Like the sunset,” I say. “At least, that’s what you told me once.”“Oh.” He closes his eyes briefly, maybe trying to conjure up that sunset, then he nods his head. “Thank you.” But more words tumble out. “You’re a painter. You’re a baker. You like to sleep with the windows open. You never take sugar in your tea. And you always double-knot your shoelaces.” Then I dive into my tent before I do something stupid like cry.

This is an all out Hunger Games appreciation post. Thank you Suzanne Collins, if not for you I wouldn’t be able to be part of this awesome fandom. These are my THG posters summed up in one post.
